The Stary Smokovec ski center is divided into two sites: Jakubkova meadow and Hrebienok, both 600 m apart. Both are ideal for casual family skiing. Day and evening sledging at Hrebienok belong amongst the best winter experiences for kids.
The ski area Jakubkova meadow is suitable especially for beginners and children that want to learn skiing. Professional ski school instructors offer lessons for everyone.
Hrebienok si accessible by ground cable car. Four of the five slopes can be reached by the funicular from Hrebienok.
Many attractions await there: SnowFunPark, Tatra Ice Dome with cool lighting of ice sculptures, 2.6 km long sleigh track nicely lit until late night and of course couple of non-demanding pistes.
The resort of Stary Smokovec is an ideal starting point for winter hiking to alpine chalets and beautiful frozen waterfalls.
How to get to Stary Smokovec
As with most areas in High Tatras, you have to pass the city of Poprad, equipped with an international airport and main railway station Poprad-Tatry. The drive from Poprad to Smokovec takes about 15 minutes.
