St. Michael’s Chapel

St. Michael's Chapel

The chapel, which can be found a short distance from St. Elisabeth Cathedral, comes from the 14th century. It represents the culmination of the gothic period and is surprising by its stylish precision, intimacy and harmony.

Some people like the former funeral chapel more than the Dome. It’s more gothic than the cathedral, cozier and has its own charm. You do not have to marry there to know it (it’s quite popular for weddings). This can be done without the christening, just come to mass, or order a tour. Indeed, after a decade of reconstruction and more than 48 million dollars spent it deserves to be admired.

The chapel is devoted to the escort of souls to the other side, Archangel Michael. His statue depicting the judging of the dead souls is placed above the entrance to the chapel.
